Know before you buy ▾
Getting here ▾
- Self-hire punts for the Singing on the River event are available to hire from 6:30 pm. The event starts at 7:00 pm and should finish before 10:00 pm. Scudamore's are not responsible for the event's structure or timings.
- Aim to arrive 30 minutes before your booking time to allow time for check-in.
- To read more about the event or to purchase access to sit on King's iconic lawns, please visit King's College website.
- Availability is limited, so we recommend booking your punt in advance.
- Bookings are valid for the date and time purchased and are non-refundable less than one week before the event.
- The event lasts approximately 3 hours. Please dress appropriately for the evening's weather. There are no toilet facilities available on the river, so please plan accordingly. If you need to use the toilet facilities, please return to the Mill Lane Punting Station.
- The minimum age for hiring a boat is 16 years old. If your party has members 15 years old or younger, they must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or older.
- The maximum capacity of a self-hire punt is 6 people (5 passengers + 1 punter).

Do I need to pre-book?
We would recommend booking in advance; this way, you won't miss your chance to go punting and book yourself a guaranteed entry.
Can I access King's Collge wth this booking?
Unfortunately, no, this booking only provides you with a self-hire punt to stay on the river by the King's College during the event. If you would like to access the College is perhaps best to purchase event entry tickets on the King's College website.
What if I just turn up?
Unfortunately, you can not book this product at the kiosk. Boats are available to book online only.
Can I change my booking time?
No, bookings are valid for the date and time purchased and are non-refundable less than one week before the event.
How many people can go in a punt?
All of our self-hire punts are limited to 6 people (5 passengers + 1 punter). Babies and toddlers count towards the total number of passengers.
What should I wear?
We suggest that you wear something you don’t mind getting a little wet. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. If there's a chance of rain, don't forget to bring a raincoat or umbrella. You need to make sure you have the correct footwear, which is non-slip, stable, can’t fall off easily and offers protection to your toes and heel. Please do not punt in bare feet or wear sandals, flip-flops, slip-on, leather-soled or high-heeled shoes
Do you offer life jackets?
Personal buoyancy aids for swimmers or life jackets for non-swimmers are available on request before your hire.
Can I bring food or drinks?
You are welcome to bring food and drinks. Please bring a bag to collect your waste and dispose of it in a bin after the event.
