Wine Experience on a Punt
Wine Tasting and Breathtaking Views
Are you and your friends wine aficionados or do you just want to learn about wine? Are you visiting Cambridge? Then we have an exciting proposition for you. We've combined the glittering views of the famous Cambridge College Backs with your own personal wine experience led by our partner wine expert Lavinia Brown.
Lavinia, published author on the subject (Cracking the Wine Code), will guide you through the basics of tasting wine the professional way so that you will walk away from your punting experience not only with the knowledge of what you like and dislike but also the reason why. You will also discover the unique characteristics of 6 household grape varieties so that you can recognise these blind!
Suitable for any level of wine knowledge, for a group of friends, a company day out or an exceptionally unique treat for a special person.
You'll be slowly navigated along the beautiful river and colleges by our professional punter while you taste, learn and test your wine knowledge.

The wine experience lasts for 1.5 hours, starting from our Quayside punt station.
The wine master Lavinia will lead you through 3 red and 3 white wines as well as how to taste and experience wine in a different way. We'll provide you with all the necessary tools to experience your day out on the river. The wine is yours after the tasting to hone your skills later.
Wine punting experience rates:
Minimum charge £470 for up to 7 people. £65.00 per adult if more than 7 people.

Lavinia Brown - wine expert
Lavinia Brown is a wine specialist, events organiser and educator. With over twenty years' experience in the wine trade, she organizes private and corporate wine events, offers bespoke cellar creation and management services, hosts lessons and interactive workshops and in 2009, published a pocket-sized guide: ‘Cracking the Wine Code’.
She was included in Who’s Who of Wine in Asia, has participated in the harvest and winemaking of Bordeaux’s first growth claret, Château Latour, and was awarded a Vintner’s Scholarship by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust for her top grades. A melting pot of French, Scottish, Austro-Hungarian and Catalan genes, she has lived in London, Hong Kong, Paris, Geneva, Bali and India and is the former wine specialist for Bonhams auction house in London.
Your Chauffeur will wear a seasonal uniform. Our punts are equipped with cushions and blankets, with extra blankets and umbrellas on-hand in case the weather changes.
The 1.5-hour wine tasting experiences leave from our Quayside Punting Station. These tours must be pre-booked at least 48 hours in advance through our Bookings Team on 01223 359750 and are subject to availability.
