M R James Ghost Stories At The Leper Chapel
Copyright information here.
...the eternal whisper of the Scotch firs just above us, and of the sea in front. Yet, in all this quiet, an acute, an acrid consciousness of a restrained hostility very near us, like a dog on a leash that might be let go at any moment.
A Warning to the Curious ~ M R James
On Friday 21st September Robert Lloyd Parry of Nunkie Theatre will be performing Oh, Whistle from his widely-praised trilogy of M R James ghost story evenings, at the twelfth century Leper Chapel on Newmarket Road.
The title story, Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad, a tale of nocturnal horror on the Suffolk coast, is considered by many to be the author's masterpiece. It is beautifully complemented here by The Ash Tree, a story of witchcraft and vengeance down the generations.
The performance starts at 20:00 prompt and is scheduled to last approximately 100 minutes, including an interval. Tickets are available online or by telephone on 01223 359750. Pre-booking is strongly recommended as this show usually sells out.
